Lucknow: With the aim of preventing incidents of harassment of women in the state and providing speedy justice to the victim women, UP State Women Commission conducted women’s public hearing at the Commission Headquarters, Lucknow by Chairperson Dr. Babita Singh Chauhan. During the hearing, along with 10 prevalent cases, new applications given by 16 victim applicants/applicants from different districts were heard and instructions were given for their disposal. Also, instructions were given to take immediate action on 165 new applications received in the Commission office through various mediums.
Apart from this, today as per the directions of Chairperson Dr. Babita Singh Chauhan, Vice President and Vice President of the Commission held public hearings in 21 districts of the state, namely, Deoria, Unnao, Sitapur, Shamli, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Auraiya, Mau, Jhansi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hathras, Sonbhadra, Fatehpur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lalitpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kaushambi, Kasganj and Badaun.
Under Mission Shakti Phase-5, the members also provided information about various welfare schemes for women, inspected various women homes and Anganwadi centers and held women public hearing/review meetings with senior administrative and police officers of the said districts regarding incidents of women harassment and resolved the problems of the victimized women on the spot.
