Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Tax Department has been awarded the highest honour Platinum Award in the Revenue category by the prestigious Skoch Group for its Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Return Scrutiny Notice Project.
The award was announced by the Skoch Group during a program organized in New Delhi. The said award was received by Additional Commissioner Grade-2 Vivek Arya and Joint Commissioner Prakash Yadav on behalf of the Commissioner State Tax. This project was started under the guidance of former Commissioner State Tax Ministhi S and has been taken forward by the current Commissioner State Tax Dr. Nitin Bansal.
While giving this information, Commissioner State Tax Dr. Nitin Bansal said that Uttar Pradesh is the first state which is using a system based on the latest data analysis and artificial intelligence technology for return scrutiny. Using this system, only one notice is issued to the trader by the State Tax officers by consolidating the deficiencies found in various GST returns.
The trader also saves himself from the trouble of responding to the notice repeatedly. Additional Commissioner Dhananjay Shukla informed that revenue of about Rs. 1200 crore has been collected from the return scrutiny of financial years 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised this system in the GST Council meeting and encouraged other states to implement it. It is noteworthy that the State Tax Department has won the Skoch Award Silver 2022 in the Finance category for its two projects Mukhyamantri Vyapari Durghatna Bima Yojana and Learning Management System. The Uttar Pradesh government has been awarded the star-of-governance Scotch Award due to the excellent performance of the said projects at the ground level in the Skoch evaluation process.
