SBI Employees Submit Memorandum to MP Representative Ahead of Nationwide Strike

Lucknow: As part of their ongoing agitation ahead of the proposed nationwide strike on May 25–26, representatives of the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation submitted a detailed memorandum to Shri Diwakar Tripathi, representative of Defence Minister and Member of Parliament Rajnath Singh, in Lucknow on Monday.

The memorandum was presented by union leaders including Ashutosh Verma, Brijesh Tiwari, Shiv Kumar Singh, Tarakeshwar Chauhan and other office-bearers of the organisation.

The employees raised several long-pending demands, including recruitment of messengers and armed guards, adequate staffing in branches, and an immediate end to outsourcing in permanent positions. They also demanded reforms in the medical reimbursement scheme and resolution of discrepancies in pension-related matters.

Union representatives said that the current manpower shortage and unresolved service issues were severely affecting the functioning of bank branches and employee morale.

Media in-charge Anil Tiwari said that this memorandum submission is part of a phased protest programme planned throughout May. He informed that on May 19, a memorandum will be submitted to the Finance Minister, followed by a nationwide social media campaign on X (formerly Twitter) on May 20.

Further, on May 21, a memorandum will be sent to the Prime Minister, and on May 22, employees will hold demonstrations and candle marches at all centres across the country.

The union has warned that if their demands remain unresolved even after these protest activities, employees will proceed with a two-day nationwide strike on May 25 and 26.
