Sainik Schools to foster Discipline, Self-Control, and Patriotism says Rajnath Singh

New Delhi:  Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Union government’s launch of 100 new Sainik Schools, calling it a pivotal move to improve the nation’s educational standards and contribute to its overall progress. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Vidyadhiraja Vidyapeetom Central and Sainik School in Mavelikkara, Alappuzha district.

Singh emphasized that Sainik Schools offer more than just academic education. They also focus on developing essential virtues such as self-discipline, self-control, and dedication in students, which are key to their personal growth. He highlighted that the aim of these schools is to promote moral, intellectual, and physical development, thus making it easier for students interested in joining the military to achieve their goals.

The Defence Minister also underlined the equal opportunities for girls at Sainik Schools, reinforcing that empowering women is crucial for the future of the country. “If we neglect the spiritual, intellectual, moral, and patriotic growth of our children, we are jeopardizing the future of our generations,” he added.

Singh noted that the younger generation, born after January 1, 2025, is expected to be highly adept at adapting to new skills and technologies. Sainik Schools, he believes, will serve as a launchpad for these young individuals to help drive India toward becoming a developed nation.

Rajnath Singh Honors Poet Sugathakumari’s Environmental Legacy

In another event on the same day, Singh lauded the literary contributions of late poet Sugathakumari, describing her works as a “clarion call” for modern society. The Minister was speaking at the closing session of the poet’s Navati (90th birth anniversary) celebrations in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta.

Singh acknowledged Sugathakumari’s foresight in addressing issues related to environmental degradation, especially in light of recent natural disasters like the Wayanad landslides in 2024 and the 2018 floods. He credited her for being a social conscience-keeper who had long advocated for preserving Kerala’s ecology. “Her call for action was a clear warning about the dangers of ignoring our environmental balance and its consequences for future generations,” Singh said.
