Bareilly: Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Pandit Deen Dayal Mishra Inter College and Disha Inter College in Bareilly, institutions run by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University.
The celebrations began with Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh hoisting the national flag. Students and teachers then sang the National Anthem, expressing their respect and devotion to the nation.
Students presented a colourful cultural programme featuring patriotic songs, dances, skits and other performances. Through their presentations, they highlighted the sacrifices, struggles and patriotism of the heroes of India’s freedom movement. Their performances infused the gathering with a strong sense of national pride and patriotism.
Addressing the students, Prof. Singh said India’s independence had been achieved through the sacrifices, struggles and supreme dedication of countless freedom fighters. He said it was therefore the responsibility of every citizen to understand the values of freedom and work sincerely for the country’s unity, integrity and progress.
He said today’s students would be the nation’s builders of tomorrow. Along with academic excellence, students should make discipline, ethics, scientific temper, sensitivity and patriotism an integral part of their lives. He urged them to use their knowledge and talent for the development of society and the nation and play an active role in fulfilling the vision of a developed India.
The Vice-Chancellor said the purpose of education was not limited to securing good marks in examinations but also to developing responsible citizens who understand their duties towards the nation and make a positive contribution to society. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the lives of freedom fighters and continue striving for excellence.

University Registrar Prof. S.K. Pandey, Prof. Alok Srivastava, Dr Jyoti Pandey, Pushpalata Gupta, Binita Prakash, Tapan Verma, teachers and a large number of students attended the celebrations.
The school campuses reverberated with patriotic slogans, songs and cultural performances throughout the event. Students displayed considerable enthusiasm for the Independence Day celebrations.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the nation’s unity, integrity and spirit of dedication.
