Research Focused on Child Labour in Hotel Industry

During her presentation, Juhi Naseem presented her research titled “Law Relating to Child Labour in India with Special Reference to Hotel Industry in Bareilly District.”

The research examined legal and practical challenges related to child labour in the hospitality sector and highlighted gaps in the implementation of existing child labour laws.

As part of her findings, the scholar proposed several recommendations to strengthen child labour prevention mechanisms. These included specifically identifying and regulating child labour practices in small hotels and roadside eateries, and introducing “mysterious guest” programmes through trained volunteers to collect evidence against violators of child labour laws.

She also suggested the establishment of a Tourism Industry Monitoring Cell and recommended linking National Child Labour Project schools with the hotel industry to improve rehabilitation and educational opportunities for affected children.

The research work was completed under the supervision of Professor Gurmeet Singh of the Law Department at KGK College Moradabad.
