National Service Scheme: A Symbol of Patriotism and Unity
Lucknow – The seven-day special camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) commenced today at National PG College, Lucknow, under the leadership of the college principal, Professor Devendra Kumar Singh. The inauguration ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge, followed by water collection in a sacred vessel to promote water conservation. The event also included the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem.
The chief guest of the event, Regional Director of the National Service Scheme, Mr. Samardeep Saxena, addressed the students, encouraging them to maintain discipline and enthusiasm in their daily lives. The event was presided over by NSS Program Coordinator Dr. Amrendra Kumar, who emphasized the role of NSS in providing a platform for youth to develop their personalities through social service and contribute to national progress. Additionally, students were made aware of digital learning and digital literacy.
General Secretary of the Motilal Committee, Mr. Rajesh Singh, also addressed the students, emphasizing that youth are the future of the nation. He urged them to take inspiration from the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and learn the essence of community living.
NSS Program Officer, Dr. Archana Singh, guided the students to register themselves on the “My Bharat Portal” to avail government-provided facilities in a timely manner. On the first day of the camp, a blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with the NSS India Group and Yagya Charitable Blood Center, where 21 volunteers and students participated in blood donation.
Following the luncheon, the Head of the Political Science Department encouraged students to exercise their voting rights responsibly by choosing the right candidates in the nation’s interest. The program concluded with the NSS theme song, reinforcing the mission and values of the organization.
The camp is being conducted under the leadership of NSS Program Officers Professor P.K. Singh, Dr. Pranati Mishra, and Dr. Archana Singh, with enthusiastic participation from group leaders and captains.
