Meeting Chaired by Minister of State for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Clears Key Decisions

Path Cleared for Regularization of Seasonal Amins; Reservation Quota for Divyangjans to be Fully Implemented

Lucknow: In a significant step towards the empowerment of persons with disabilities (Divyangjans), a high-level joint meeting was convened today under the chairmanship of Narendra Kashyap, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, at the main building of the Vidhan Sabha.

Acting on the directives of the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, the meeting brought together officials from key government departments and office bearers of the Divyang Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance of Divyangjans). Several important decisions were taken to address long-standing demands and improve the welfare of Divyangjans across the state.

Key Decisions Taken:

  • Regularization of Seasonal Collection Amins: The process for regulating the services of seasonal amins has been set in motion, addressing a crucial employment concern.
  • Job Opportunities for Aspirants: It was decided that candidates for the positions of Lekhpal (Revenue Officers) and Chief Sevika (Female Welfare Supervisors) will be given priority in upcoming recruitment drives.
  • Fulfillment of Divyang Reservation Quota: Strict instructions were issued to ensure full implementation of the reservation quota for Divyangjans in government jobs and services.
  • Enhanced Divyang Pension: Proposals were discussed for increasing the pension for Divyang beneficiaries.
  • Implementation of RPWD Act 2016: Officials were directed to enforce the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
  • Antyodaya and Ayushman Cards: Departments were instructed to expedite the issuance of Antyodaya ration cards and Ayushman Bharat health cards for Divyangjans to ensure better access to food security and healthcare.

Officials and Representatives Present:

The meeting was attended by Subhash Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities; Himanshu Jha, State Commissioner for Divyangjan; officials from the Revenue Department, Women and Child Development, and the Health Department.

From the Divyang Mahagathbandhan, Virendra Kumar (General Secretary), Manish Prasad (President), Jitendra Verma (Treasurer), Anand Tiwari (Spokesperson), Tanyamay Srivastava, Rahul Kumar, Neetu Kashyap, Ram Nihal Dwivedi, Krishna Kumar Singh, Mukesh Bharti, and Ajit Kumar were also present.

This meeting marked a significant step in addressing systemic challenges faced by Divyangjans and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their empowerment and inclusion in mainstream society.
