Mayor Sushma Kharkwal Distributes Blankets and Food to the Needy in Lucknow

Lucknow: In a heartwarming initiative aimed at bringing relief to the underprivileged, Lucknow’s Mayor, Mrs. Sushma Kharkwal, personally distributed blankets and food items to those in need as part of a special program organized by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. This event, designed to combat the biting winter chill, was attended by various city officials, including Municipal Commissioner Indrajeet Singh, as they collectively worked to address the needs of the city’s less fortunate residents.

Held at several key locations across the city, the initiative focused on providing essential support to those who struggle during the winter months. The distribution process included 1,400 food packages and hundreds of blankets across multiple zones in the city. In Zone 02, for instance, 300 food packages and 50 blankets were handed out, while Zone 04 saw the distribution of 400 food packages and 50 blankets, among other similar efforts across Lucknow’s various zones.

The Mayor highlighted that the primary objective of this campaign was to safeguard vulnerable groups from the severe cold and the associated health risks, such as cold-related illnesses. She further emphasized the importance of helping the underprivileged stay warm and secure during these harsh months, underlining the commitment of the municipal body to look after those most in need.

Additionally, the Mayor ensured that all night shelters were equipped with bonfires, providing further comfort to those seeking refuge from the cold. The initiative was a reflection of the city’s ongoing commitment to social welfare and supporting its citizens in their time of need.
