Maha Kumbh Nagar: In an effort to ensure the safety and security of the millions of devotees expected to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the administration has implemented special cyber security arrangements. A total of 56 cyber warriors will be deployed across Maha Kumbh Nagar to safeguard the digital space during the event, which is expected to attract pilgrims from across the country and abroad.
As per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the SSP of Maha Kumbh Nagar will personally oversee the monitoring of Digital Maha Kumbh. Under a comprehensive cyber security plan, a robust strategy has been formulated to combat cyber fraud and protect the devotees from online threats.
Special Cyber Help Desks in Police Stations
In alignment with CM Yogi’s directives, every police station in Maha Kumbh Nagar will feature a dedicated Cyber Help Desk, staffed with experts who will conduct cyber patrolling and provide immediate assistance. Additionally, social media platforms like AI, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Google will be strategically utilized to spread awareness about cyber safety, while VMD (Variable Messaging Displays) will also play a crucial role in informing pilgrims about cyber threats.
VMDs for Mass Awareness
To educate the expected 45 crore devotees, the state government has decided to use every available media platform, including print, digital, and social media. 40 VMDs will be installed across the Maha Kumbh Mela grounds and 40 more at the Commissionerate. These displays will provide continuous information to pilgrims about cyber security, cautioning them against cyber fraudsters and fake websites.
Cyber Police Station for Online Safety
For the first time ever, the Maha Kumbh will feature a Cyber Police Station specifically designed to protect pilgrims from cyber criminals. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive online security for devotees, preventing them from falling victim to online scams, AI-driven fraud, and dark web threats. The cyber experts have already flagged nearly 50 websites that are under investigation, with action being taken against them.
Additionally, a mobile cyber team has been formed to reach out to the masses and raise awareness on a large scale. Devotees can call the 1920 helpline for information regarding the event or to report suspicious websites. The official government websites (those ending in gov.in) will also be highlighted as legitimate sources of information.
Tackling Fraudulent Activities
As part of the effort to protect devotees from fraud, cyber experts will monitor AI, Facebook, X, and Instagram for scams in which fraudsters ask for money. Any complaints will be promptly addressed, with strict action being taken against those involved in fraudulent activities. The cyber police are also focusing on fraudulent links and fake websites that attempt to deceive people.
Furthermore, the AWT (Automatic Fire Trigger) system will be used as a security shield against fire-related incidents, ensuring that all aspects of safety are taken care of.
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 promises to be not only a spiritual and cultural milestone but also a digitally secure event, thanks to the comprehensive cyber security measures in place. The 56 cyber warriors will work tirelessly to keep pilgrims safe from online fraud, ensuring that their focus remains on their spiritual journey, free from digital threats.
Rajesh Dwivedi, SSP Maha Kumbh, emphasized, “This year, we are committed to making the Maha Kumbh Mela not just a divine experience but also a digitally safe one for all attendees.”
