Kannauj Police Goes Fully Digital: A Step Towards Smart Policing

Kannauj: In a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India mission, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh is accelerating the adoption of technology in the state’s police force. On the occasion of Good Governance Day (Suashasan Diwas) on December 25, all police stations in Kannauj were freed from the clutter of cumbersome physical files. As a result, Kannauj has become the first district in Uttar Pradesh where every police station is now fully operational on the E-office system, marking a major milestone in the state’s push for smart policing.

End of Physical File Era in Kannauj Police Stations

SP Amit Kumar Anand of Kannauj shared that this digital transition aligns with the ongoing efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to promote the Digital India Mission. He highlighted that the Uttar Pradesh Police is continuously taking major steps towards technological reform and modernization. As part of this initiative, Kannauj Police became the first in the state to implement the E-office system in all its police stations, including the CO Office and Additional Offices, on the day of Good Governance Day.

The introduction of this system has effectively eliminated the need for bulky paper files, transitioning the administrative work to a smooth and efficient digital platform.

Kannauj: First Fully Digital Police District in UP

Kannauj has now become the first district in Uttar Pradesh where all police stations and offices are operating on the E-office system. This transition was inaugurated in a ceremony held at the Police Office, where laptops were distributed to all station in-charges, area officers, and gazetted officers. This initiative aims to make administrative functions more efficient and transparent, ensuring quicker and more accurate management of police work.

Training and Technical Support for Police Personnel

To ensure the success of this transition, SP Amit Kumar Anand emphasized that the DGP Prashant Kumar launched the E-office system on Good Governance Day. He informed that the system, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), follows the Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedures (CSMeOP). The implementation of the system was supported by significant improvements to the district’s digital infrastructure. All police stations and offices have been equipped with the necessary technical devices for the smooth operation of this system.

Furthermore, ongoing training sessions are being provided to police personnel to ensure they are well-versed in using the E-office system, enabling them to handle administrative tasks more efficiently.

Faster Redressal of Complaints and Swift Justice

The primary objective of the E-office system is to digitize file and data management, bringing greater transparency and efficiency to administrative work. This system is expected to expedite the process of complaint resolution and reporting, allowing the public to receive faster justice. Digital file management will also facilitate better monitoring of tasks, enabling officers to track progress and streamline decision-making.

Public Benefits and Reduced Corruption

For the public, the E-office system promises significant benefits, such as quicker resolution of pending complaints and a more transparent and timely reporting process. Additionally, it is expected to reduce corruption within police stations and district offices, as the digital process eliminates the possibility of manual manipulation of files.

This initiative by Kannauj Police not only reduces the workload for police personnel but also ensures that the general public receives police services in a more timely and transparent manner. Kannauj’s success in digital policing serves as an inspiration for other districts in Uttar Pradesh, setting a new benchmark for efficiency and transparency in law enforcement.
