Lucknow: In a major breakthrough against vehicle theft, the Krishnanagar police team of the Southern Zone arrested two notorious vehicle thieves and recovered two stolen motorcycles from their possession. The operation was conducted near Lokbandhu Hospital, where the suspects were caught riding a motorcycle without a number plate.

Arrests and Seizure

During routine checking on February 10, 2025, the Krishnanagar police team intercepted two suspicious individuals near Lokbandhu Hospital riding a numberless motorcycle (UP32EH8332). Upon questioning, the suspects failed to provide valid documents for the vehicle. The accused were identified as:

  1. Aakash Sonkar (23), son of late Deepu Sonkar, resident of Jayprakash Nagar, Near Kela Godam, Natkheda, Krishnanagar, Lucknow.
  2. Anshu Kumar Vinodia (24), son of Rakesh Kumar, resident of Geetapalli, Alambagh, under Krishnanagar police station, Lucknow.

Upon further interrogation, they confessed to stealing the motorcycle from Sai Neem Karori Marriage Lawn, South City, under PGI police station, three to four days prior. A case (FIR No. 069/2025) under Section 303(2) BNS was already registered at PGI police station. Based on their inputs, another stolen motorcycle (UP32BR9350) was recovered. A fresh case (FIR No. 067/2025) under Sections 317(2)/317(5) BNS has been registered against them at Krishnanagar police station.

Modus Operandi

The accused are part of an organized gang that specializes in vehicle theft, particularly targeting parked motorcycles in crowded and secluded areas during late hours. They sell stolen vehicles and use the proceeds for personal gains. These stolen vehicles are also used in executing other criminal activities before being abandoned to evade capture, making it difficult for law enforcement to track them.

Police Team Involved in the Arrest

The successful operation was carried out by the Krishnanagar police team under the Southern Zone Commissionerate, Lucknow. Further investigations are underway to identify other members of the vehicle theft gang and recover more stolen vehicles.
