Keshav Prasad Maurya Directs Swift Redressal of Public Grievances at Janata Darshan

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday heard grievances from citizens across the state during a Janata Darshan programme held at his official residence, 7 Kalidas Marg, in Lucknow. Emphasising prompt and transparent governance, he directed officials to ensure time-bound resolution of every complaint and said that negligence in addressing public issues would not be tolerated.

Interacting personally with each petitioner, Maurya patiently listened to concerns related to civic amenities, welfare schemes and public services. He issued written instructions to the concerned departments for immediate action and, in several cases, spoke directly over the phone with district magistrates, police officials and departmental officers to expedite the resolution process.

The grievances presented during the programme covered a wide range of issues, including road construction, drainage, drinking water supply, encroachment on village pathways, revenue land disputes, electricity supply, installation of new transformers to enhance power capacity, housing assistance, medical aid and other public welfare concerns.

Among the cases taken up was that of Saroj Kumar from Mohanlalganj in Lucknow, who requested an Ayushman Bharat health card and benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Maurya instructed officials to process the applications in accordance with eligibility norms.

Neeraj Maurya from Hardoi sought financial assistance for his sister Ursha Maurya under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage/Kanya Vivah Assistance Scheme. The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to take immediate action.

Maurya asked officials of the power department to examine the proposal and take necessary steps. Guddi of Dudipur village in Agra district sought assistance under the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme, while Aarti Devi from Kanpur Dehat requested permission to carry and use a nebuliser during the police recruitment examination due to a medical condition. Maurya instructed officials to consider the matter sensitively and in accordance with established rules.

Medical assistance also featured prominently during the public hearing. Ramwala from Moradabad, Kanchan Mishra from Kanpur and Munnilal from Barabanki sought financial support for cancer treatment. In each case, Maurya directed the concerned authorities to provide priority assistance. Saugandh Devi, who is suffering from a serious kidney ailment, requested admission and treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow. The Deputy Chief Minister instructed health officials to coordinate immediately and facilitate her treatment.

Maurya also spoke with district magistrates of Rampur, Jhansi, Kanpur Dehat, Prayagraj and Firozabad, along with the Police Commissioner and Superintendents of Police of Kannauj, Aligarh, Sultanpur and Varanasi, directing them to ensure fair, prompt and effective disposal of the cases referred to them.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance, the Deputy Chief Minister said every grievance received during Janata Darshan must be treated as a priority. He stressed that eligible beneficiaries should not be deprived of government welfare schemes and that the administration must ensure timely relief and transparent service delivery.

Describing Janata Darshan as more than just a grievance hearing platform, Maurya said it serves as an effective mechanism for resolving public issues quickly and efficiently. He added that the Uttar Pradesh government remains committed to the principles of service, good governance and welfare of the poor, ensuring that every citizen receives timely assistance and justice.
