Lucknow: A delegation from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Lucknow chapter, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss a range of issues related to public health, medical services, and doctors’ welfare.
The delegation was led by IMA Lucknow President Dr Manoj Kumar Asthana and Secretary Dr Shweta Srivastava. During the meeting, they highlighted the need to strengthen public healthcare services, improve medical infrastructure, and enhance the effective implementation of government health schemes. The association also emphasized its willingness to play an active role in supporting state initiatives.
One of the major demands raised was the allocation of suitable land for constructing a new and expanded IMA Bhawan in Lucknow, aimed at better serving the medical community.
The delegation also proposed the formation of a coordinated committee to curb the growing menace of unqualified practitioners and unauthorized medical activities across the state. The move, they said, would help ensure safe and quality healthcare services for the public.
Additionally, IMA representatives expressed gratitude to the chief minister for recent reforms in the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) registration renewal process. The shift from annual renewal to a five-year validity period has provided significant relief to doctors and hospital operators, and was described as a practical and forward-looking decision.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured the delegation that the concerns raised would be examined seriously and appropriate action would be taken in the public interest.
The meeting was also attended by IMA Lucknow executive members, including Dr Amit Agarwal, Dr Amit Madan, and Dr R.B. Singh. The association expressed hope for positive outcomes from the discussions, benefiting both the medical fraternity and the general public.
