Healthy, Educated and Empowered Women Hold the Key to a Brighter Nation: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasised that the health, education and empowerment of women are essential for securing the nation’s present and building a brighter future. Referring to Goddess Skandamata, worshipped during Navratri, he described her as the embodiment of affection, motherhood and nourishment.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister alleged that before 2017, successive governments neglected maternal healthcare and girls’ education, with poor hospital facilities, shortages of medicines and inadequate institutional delivery services contributing to worrying maternal and infant mortality rates.

He said the BJP-led double-engine government had transformed the situation over the past nine-and-a-half years by creating a comprehensive welfare framework covering a girl’s birth, education and safe motherhood.

Highlighting improvements since 2017, Yogi said Operation Kayakalp had increased the availability of basic facilities in primary schools from 36% to over 96%. The school dropout rate, he added, had declined from 20% to below 3%.

Atal Residential Schools are providing modern residential education to girls from labourers’ and disadvantaged families, while Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas have expanded schooling opportunities up to Class 12.

The Chief Minister said investment in girls’ education strengthens their confidence and contributes to the state’s future.
