Governor pushes the envelope further on Cancer awareness

Lucknow: Governor of Uttar Pradesh  Anandiben Patel attended the inauguration ceremony of Stuti Charitable Society, an organization working for the mission of creating awareness about cancer among women, and unveiled the organization’s social media platform and brochure in this regard at Raj Bhavan for the mission of creating awareness about cancer.

Addressing the people present at the ceremony , the Governor said that there are 50 percent women in the society, with 25 percent children. Thus, women are taking responsibility of 75 percent of the people, but these women do not get the expected respect in the society for their excellent work. She said that today medical science has made a lot of progress and vaccines are available for cervical cancer and breast cancer. Today the society needs to change its thinking and efforts should be made for the good health of daughters from a young age to save their lives.

Congratulating the organization for its efforts to create awareness about cancer among women, the Governor said that the work of vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer of daughters aged 9 to 14 years was first started from Raj Bhavan. He also expressed happiness over the provision of free vaccination for cervical cancer in the budget of the Government of India. He said that incidents keep happening in the society but there are some incidents in which lives of people can be saved by taking advance measures.

She said that today there is a need to bring change in the thinking of the society towards daughters. The contribution of women in building a home is very important and after getting diseases we forget them, this should not be done. She said that women should be taken to the Primary Health Center or Community Health Center in groups, get them examined and get them treated on time. She said that efforts should be made to vaccinate daughters in all schools to prevent cervical cancer.

There should not be a single daughter who has not been vaccinated. She asked to educate the girl students by making courses on subjects like menopause and Garbha Sanskar in universities. She said that when daughters are educated in this context, they will be able to guide not only their mother at home but also their mother-in-law and themselves after going to their in-laws’ house. The Governor gave the example of Abhimanyu and told about Garbha Sanskar.

She said that we should use the knowledge we have. She said that mother’s milk is important for children and said that spreading awareness about feeding is necessary. She said that it is the duty of men to take care of the diseases of the women of the house.

The Governor said that along with cancer awareness, efforts should also be made for organ donation. She said that women are ahead in organ donation in the state but men do not come forward, this is a matter of concern. The Governor directed to make women aware and get them tested for cancer and work should be done at the grassroot level in this regard.

On this occasion, special guest and President of Divya Prem Seva Mission, Dr. Ashish Mohan Gautam told the measures to prevent cancer and thanked the Governor for his guidance in this regard.

Addressing the program, the President of the organization, Dr. Nirupama Singh, highlighted the journey of the organization from its inception till now and the objectives of its formation. She highlighted the main symptoms and advance vigilance of cervical cancer and breast cancer, HPV vaccination etc.

The program started  with the screening of a short film on the occasion of Tiger Day. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary  Rajpal Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, former Water Power Minister of the state Dr. Mahendra Singh, Anganwadi and Asha workers, school and college students and teachers etc. were present.
