Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Tuesday described the Yuva Sangam Programme under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative as an innovative campaign to understand and imbibe the true spirit of India, emphasizing that young people are the living ambassadors of the nation’s diversity and unity.
The Governor was addressing a special interaction and cultural programme organized at Jan Bhavan, Lucknow, under Yuva Sangam Phase-6, where a delegation of students and faculty members from Arunachal Pradesh participated in an exchange programme aimed at strengthening cultural and emotional ties between different regions of the country.
The event began with the screening of a documentary showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, traditional cuisine, major tourist attractions, and ongoing developmental initiatives. The presentation offered participants a deeper understanding of the unique identity and vibrant traditions of India’s northeastern region.
Members of the Arunachal Pradesh delegation also delivered detailed presentations on the state’s history, culture, and economic landscape. Students from the state captivated the audience with colorful traditional folk dance performances and a group rendition of the Arunachal Pradesh theme song, earning appreciation from the Governor and attendees alike.
“India Is a Confluence of Cultures”
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Patel said that such cultural exchanges not only showcase the rich heritage of different states but also inspire people to experience these traditions firsthand.
Recalling her visits to Arunachal Pradesh, she spoke warmly about the state’s breathtaking natural beauty. She described its rivers, scenic valleys, and cloud-covered mountains, noting that nature presents a unique and unforgettable spectacle in the region.
Referring to Tawang, one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most renowned tourist destinations, she highlighted its picturesque landscapes and growing popularity as a location for film shooting. She also mentioned local traditions that honor the memory of martyrs, reflecting the state’s deep cultural values.
The Governor described the Yuva Sangam initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education, as a powerful platform that connects people from the northeastern states with the rest of India, strengthening national integration and mutual understanding.
“This programme is a living expression of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’ It enables young people from different parts of the country to learn from each other, appreciate diverse cultures, and build lasting bonds,” she said.
Youth Are the Architects of a Stronger India
Addressing the students, Patel said that India’s youth possess the energy and creativity needed to transcend regional boundaries and create new pathways of cooperation and understanding.
“Young people are the living ambassadors of India’s diversity. Programmes like Yuva Sangam enrich their experiences, broaden their perspectives, and prepare them to contribute to a globally connected India,” she remarked.
The Governor noted that although languages, customs, and traditions may vary across regions, India’s diversity remains a source of strength rather than division.

“India is a rainbow of cultures. Every region contributes its own unique colors, making our national identity even brighter,” she said.
Highlighting the cultural richness of both states, Patel referred to Uttar Pradesh’s spiritual heritage represented by Kashi, Ayodhya, and Mathura-Vrindavan, as well as its renowned Chikankari craftsmanship and Kathak dance tradition. She also praised Arunachal Pradesh’s tribal heritage, folk traditions, festivals, Tawang Monastery, and the scenic beauty of Ziro Valley.
India Creating Opportunities for the Future
The Governor described India as a “confluence of cultures, an ocean of traditions, and a living temple of humanity.” She said the country’s civilizational values, including Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), continue to guide its social and cultural outlook.
She observed that India is no longer merely a land of opportunities but has become a creator of opportunities. Referring to rapid advancements in digital technology, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and innovation, she said that young Indians are playing a leading role in shaping the nation’s future.
“India is moving forward with a vision that does not merely anticipate the future but actively creates it. Our youth are the strongest drivers of this transformation,” she said.
Patel noted that the country has developed one of the world’s largest startup ecosystems and that increasing global partnerships and trade agreements are opening new opportunities for young Indians.
Building Bridges Through Cultural Exchange
The Governor emphasized that national unity remains India’s greatest strength. When young people from different states interact, understand each other’s traditions, and learn from each other’s achievements, they help build a stronger and more inclusive nation.
“Programmes like Yuva Sangam are not merely events; they are bridges that transform diversity into unity and connect youth with the larger mission of nation-building,” she said.
Calling upon participants to embrace diversity as a strength, Patel urged them to work together toward building a developed India by 2047—one that is rooted in its values, driven by innovation, and guided by the energy and aspirations of its youth.
During the programme, members of the Arunachal Pradesh delegation honored the Governor by presenting her with a traditional shawl and jacket.
