Gonda: A delegation of advocates from Gonda met the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and submitted a comprehensive charter of demands aimed at improving the welfare and working conditions of lawyers across the state.
Among the key demands raised were a monthly incentive allowance of ₹10,000 for junior advocates and a monthly pension of ₹25,000 for advocates above 70 years of age as well as elderly and ailing lawyers who surrender their registration to ensure a dignified livelihood. The delegation also urged the state government to implement the Advocate Protection Act.
The advocates further demanded the withdrawal of what they described as false cases registered in 2025 by the Circle Officer of Colonelganj against members of the legal fraternity. Civic and infrastructure-related issues were also highlighted, including the need to resolve persistent waterlogging problems in the Collectorate and Civil Court premises, provide adequate chambers for advocates, and ensure access to clean drinking water within court complexes.
The delegation held detailed discussions with the Chief Minister in a cordial atmosphere. According to representatives, the Chief Minister responded positively to the issues raised and assured them of appropriate consideration. He also informed the delegation about various welfare schemes being implemented for advocates.

The delegation comprised Bar Association Gonda President Ravichandra Tripathi, Civil Bar Association Gonda President Vijay Prakash Tripathi, Bar Association General Secretary Sunil Kumar Pandey, and Civil Bar General Secretary Gauri Shankar Chaturvedi.
Following the meeting, Bar Association President Ravichandra Tripathi expressed gratitude to the DIG of Devipatan Range, the Superintendent of Police, other administrative officials, and members of the legal fraternity for their support. He also extended special thanks to Iqbal Bahadur Tiwari for his significant role in facilitating the meeting and helping advance the advocates’ concerns before the state government.
