Gonda Bar Association Marks Independence Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Justice and Public Welfare

Gonda: The Gonda Bar Association observed Independence Day with a solemn ceremony at the Bar Association auditorium, where members of the legal fraternity paid tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and reaffirmed their commitment to justice, public welfare and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Addressing advocates, District and Sessions Judge Durg Narayan Singh said that those born in independent India were fortunate to witness the country’s progress and prosperity, but freedom had been achieved through immense sacrifice. He stressed that citizens must continue working for justice and social welfare.

He said people, regardless of their position or profession, should offer a true tribute to the country’s immortal heroes through dedicated service and excellence in their respective fields. Such commitment, he added, would help India retain its unique position in the world.

District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan said the sacrifices of the country’s revolutionary freedom fighters must always be remembered. She urged people to keep their ideals in mind while discharging their responsibilities and working for society.

Bar Association president Ravichandra Tripathi said freedom was the birthright of every individual. He said the legal fraternity remained committed to protecting the rights of litigants and the general public, particularly those who were weak, vulnerable and distressed.

Tripathi noted that the legal community had played an important role in India’s freedom movement and had continued to make a significant contribution to society. He said advocates would remain committed to this responsibility in the future as well.

The programme was conducted by Bar Association general secretary Sunil Kumar Pandey. Before the formal proceedings, the chief guest and distinguished guests, including Chief Revenue Officer Rinki Jaiswal, DGC Criminal Vasant Shukla, DGC Civil Anand Raj Singh, DGC Revenue Sushil Tripathi and ADGC Amit Pathak, along with hundreds of advocates, participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony.

The gathering observed the National Anthem after the flag was unfurled. The dignitaries subsequently paid floral tributes to the statue of India’s first President, Dr Rajendra Prasad, and recalled his ideals and contribution to the nation.

The Independence Day programme also included the felicitation of the chief guest and distinguished guests, besides recognition of members of the legal fraternity who had made outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
