Free Rakshabandhan commute to add to revelry for sisters

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, like last year, this year too, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women will be provided free travel facility in urban buses operated in 15 major cities of the state, for this, necessary guidelines have been given to all the concerned urban transport officers for preparation and better management.

Urban Development Minister (AK Sharma) said that on the festival of Raksha Bandhan, a symbol of unbreakable bond and love between brother and sister, the Urban Development Department will provide free travel facility in urban buses this year too, like last year.

AK Sharma said that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, 24-hour free travel facility will be available for women from 12 midnight on August 18, 2024 to 12 midnight on August 19 in the city buses being operated through SPV in major cities of the state including Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Moradabad, Jhansi, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Shahjahanpur, Agra and Mathura-Vrindavan, so that women do not face any kind of trouble and inconvenience in commuting.
