Lucknow: With the festival of Holi around the corner, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has intensified its crackdown against adulterated food products in the city. In a major operation, FSDA conducted raids at multiple shops across Lucknow, including Thakurganj Khoya Mandi.
FSDA’s Swift Action
During the raids, several traders fled, abandoning their stock of adulterated khoya. Authorities seized approximately 3.5 quintals of contaminated khoya, raising concerns about food safety ahead of the festival.
Samples Sent for Testing
The FSDA team collected a total of 52 samples for laboratory testing. These include samples of milk, ghee, paneer, besan, and edible oil. Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against those found guilty of selling substandard or adulterated food products.
Ensuring Safe Festivities
With heightened surveillance, FSDA aims to ensure that citizens can celebrate Holi without the risk of consuming contaminated food. Regular inspections are expected to continue in the coming days to curb the sale of adulterated food items in the city.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food quality issues to the concerned department.
