District Magistrate Appeals to Residents to Conserve Electricity Amid Rising Summer Demand

Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh has appealed to residents and electricity consumers across the district to actively participate in electricity conservation efforts as soaring temperatures have pushed power demand to record levels.

In his message to citizens, the District Magistrate said that with summer at its peak, electricity consumption has increased significantly. While the Power Department and district administration are working round the clock to ensure uninterrupted and adequate power supply to every household, he stressed that managing the growing demand is a shared responsibility of both authorities and the public.

He urged residents to support the electricity-saving campaign, emphasizing that even a small reduction in power consumption at one home could help prevent outages elsewhere. Conserving electricity, he noted, can bring relief to elderly citizens, assist patients requiring essential services, and ensure comfort for children during the hot summer nights.

The District Magistrate particularly appealed to consumers to avoid using high-power appliances such as water pumps, washing machines, heaters, and other heavy electrical equipment during peak hours from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Households with multiple air conditioners were advised to use them only when necessary and maintain temperatures between 24°C and 26°C to reduce energy consumption and ease pressure on transformers.

He encouraged citizens to adopt a daily pledge of saving at least one unit of electricity. “When millions of people make this small effort, the collective impact can be enormous,” he said, adding that reduced consumption would lessen the load on power stations, protect transformers, and help maintain a stable electricity supply throughout the district.

Calling for responsible citizenship, the District Magistrate urged residents to switch off unnecessary electrical appliances and contribute to the welfare of the wider community.

“Save Electricity, Share Light, and Extend Your Support,” he said.
