Lucknow: Maa Janki Seva Nyas organised a Raksha Bandhan celebration at CMS, Vishal Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, conveying a message of social responsibility and environmental protection alongside the traditional festival of sibling bonding.
The programme was attended by Kaushal Ji Bhai Sahab, Prant Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Awadh Prant, as the chief guest. Prashant Bhatia, described as one of the Nyas’s major supporters and associates, was also present.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Kaushal Ji Bhai Sahab along with other distinguished guests.
A special Raksha Bandhan video clip, dance-drama, performances by children and a group Raksha Bandhan song were presented during the event, highlighting the cultural and social significance of the festival. The children’s performances were particularly appreciated by the guests and audience.
Speakers at the programme said Raksha Bandhan is not merely a festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters but also symbolises trust, responsibility, respect, social harmony and protection. They emphasised that a responsible citizen has a duty to protect not only family members but also society, the nation and nature.
Taking the message forward, Maa Janki Seva Nyas launched the “Celebrate a Plastic-Free Festival” campaign. The organisers appealed to people to combine festive celebrations with environmental responsibility and resolve to reduce the use of plastic during festivals.
The Raksha Bandhan ceremony began by tying a rakhi to a portrait of Bharat Mata, symbolising a collective pledge to protect the nation, society and the environment. Participants subsequently tied rakhis to one another and took a pledge of mutual protection and social responsibility.
Among those present were Dinesh Sharma, MP; Pawan Singh Chauhan; Avanish Singh, MLC; Ashok Kumar, Advocate General; Abhay Nirbhik, National Poet; and O.P. Srivastava, MLA, along with other distinguished guests.
The programme was successfully organised with the support and cooperation of Dr Pooja, Vibha, Reshu, Sanyogita, Akanksha, Meenakshi, Amita, Roshni, Anuradha, Isha and Shobhana, among others.
The central message of the celebration was: “This Raksha Bandhan, let us pledge not only to protect our relationships but also Bharat Mata, society and nature.”
The event thus combined the traditional spirit of Raksha Bandhan with a wider appeal for environmental awareness, social responsibility and collective action towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
