Bithoor (Kanpur) – A medical intern student passed away on Friday afternoon at Rama Medical College in the Bithoor police station area. CCTV footage shows the student suddenly collapsing and falling unconscious at the nursing station. Her colleagues quickly moved her to the ICU, where after an ECG, doctors declared her dead.
The Bithoor police reached the spot, conducted an investigation, and reviewed the CCTV footage. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Sneha Pathak, a resident of Natwar Nagar, Mathura. She was an MBBS student living in the girls’ hostel and was interning in the pediatric ward. Sneha was part of the 2019 batch.
On Friday afternoon, Sneha stepped outside the pediatric ward to call relatives of admitted children for treatment, when she suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious at the nursing station. Her classmates mentioned that she had been busy with a senior student practical session since morning.
In a hurry, the staff transferred her to the ICU, where after an ECG, she was declared dead. The college staff immediately informed Sneha’s father, Jayprakash Pathak, about the incident, which caused immense grief in her family, and they left for Kanpur.
Upon receiving the news, hundreds of medical students gathered outside the ICU, visibly grieving. The Bithoor police were waiting for the arrival of the family members. Station Officer Prem Narayan Vishwakarma stated that the preliminary investigation suggests the cause of death was a heart attack, and the CCTV footage is being examined.
