Conference of Ex-Servicemen Bankers Welfare Committee Held in Lucknow; Uttar Pradesh Unit Formed

Sanjay Rai Elected President of Uttar Pradesh Unit

Lucknow: A conference to establish the Uttar Pradesh unit of the All India Ex-Servicemen Bankers Welfare Committee was held at Vishva Samvad Kendra in Jiamau, Lucknow. The event brought together retired armed forces personnel currently serving or formerly employed in the banking and financial sectors to discuss issues concerning their welfare, representation, and professional interests.

The programme commenced with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp before an image of Bharat Mata, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The ceremony was attended by chief guest Dhirendra Singh and several senior ex-servicemen bankers.

Need for a Strong and Transparent Platform

Addressing the gathering, Executive National President Anand Rathore expressed concern over the growing fragmentation of trade unions representing ex-servicemen bankers and the declining effectiveness of such organizations in the changing labour law environment.

He emphasized the need for a strong, transparent, and democratic national platform for retired personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary forces who are employed in nationalized banks, regional rural banks, private banks, and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs).

According to Rathore, the proposed organization aims to safeguard the service-related, professional, social, and welfare interests of ex-servicemen bankers while ensuring broad participation through a practical constitution and minimal financial contribution from members.

Discussions on Labour Laws and Welfare Issues

The conference featured detailed discussions on the challenges faced by smaller ex-servicemen banking unions under the framework of new labour laws. Speakers including Dhirendra Singh, Anand Rathore, Mrigank Srivastava, Sanjay Rai, Vikas Rawat, Santosh Kumar, Rajesh Tiwari, Ashutosh Pathak, and Vishal Nigam shared their views on the future of employee representation and collective welfare initiatives.

Participants also highlighted the importance of creating an independent welfare committee that could work in coordination with parent trade unions while focusing specifically on the concerns of ex-servicemen bankers. Among those contributing to the discussion were Rajesh Jaiswal, Alok Kumar, Chandrajit Singh, Yogesh Dixit, Ritesh Srivastava, Anurag Pandey, Vineet Pandey, and Rajmani Upadhyay.

Constitution Presented and State Leadership Announced

During the conference, the proposed constitution of the All India Ex-Servicemen Bankers Welfare Committee was presented before members for review and discussion. Following extensive deliberations, participants unanimously elected Sanjay Rai, an employee of Punjab National Bank in Prayagraj, as President of the Uttar Pradesh unit.

Call for Unity and Collective Efforts

The programme was conducted by Mrigank Srivastava. A large number of ex-servicemen bankers and employees working in non-banking financial institutions participated both online and offline.

Concluding the event, Patron Dhirendra Singh urged members to work with dedication, unity, and commitment to strengthen the organization and advance the welfare of ex-servicemen bankers across the country.

The conference ended with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by National President Anand Rathore.
