Meerut: The tenth convocation of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut was held under the chairmanship of the Governor of the state and Chancellor of state universities, Anandiben Patel. A total of 3049 students were awarded degrees in the convocation. Students of graduation, post graduation, PhD etc. courses were honored by giving degrees and gold medals. The Governor also provided books to the children of primary school on behalf of the Raj Bhavan.
The Governor, while addressing the students, said that this day is a day of satisfaction and pride not only for you but also for your parents and relatives, who have worked hard and invested capital for your education. Parents give up all their comforts to make their children well-educated and for their better future.
The Governor also praised the faculty members and research directors of the university along with the students, who have worked hard to provide quality education to the students and give a certain direction to their thoughts and views. She said that this university has been named after Yugpurush Swami Vivekananda, who will always be a source of inspiration for the youth. Swami Vivekananda’s teachings contained the principles of character building, power of mind, expansion of intellect and self-reliance.
The Governor distributed 150 kits to Anganwadi centres at the convocation. She asked the Anganwadi workers to use these kits in the interest of the children of the centre. She said that in whichever Anganwadi these kits have been provided, an increase in the number of children has been observed. Highlighting the important role of Anganwadi, she said that Anganwadi, which works for the education and development of children from small and poor households, needs to be linked with universities. Emphasising the need for public participation, she said that no nation can progress without public participation. Public participation will have to be promoted to uplift Anganwadis.
The Governor paid homage to the historical land of Meerut and said that Meerut has played a leading role in the freedom struggle. On this occasion, while giving the message of dedication to the service of society and nation to the students, she said that along with discharging family responsibilities, they should move towards great goals like serving the countrymen, especially the poor and deprived sections of the society. There will be many difficulties and challenges on this path, in dealing with which personality, self-confidence, faith in God, and education received from parents and their blessings will be helpful.
At the function, the Governor appreciated the teaching work being done in various departments of Subharti University like Medical, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Management, Fine Arts, Buddhist Studies, Language and Literature, Arts and Humanities and directed to prepare the curriculum in accordance with the new education policy. She said that Subharti University has prepared a large number of doctors, nursing professionals, officers for administrative services and civil services.
She said that better education is very important to move ahead in life and achieve success. It helps us in developing self-confidence as well as in building our personality.
On this occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Himanshu Airan, Registrar M. Yakub and Dusik Syed Zafar Hussain, public representatives, executive council members, officers/employees, teachers, students, Anganwadi workers and other dignitaries were present.
