New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh, May 9, 2026: Adani Agri Fresh Limited (AAFL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, has announced its entry into the stone fruits category with plans to begin cherry procurement in Himachal Pradesh from the upcoming season. The move marks a significant expansion of the company’s fruit procurement and storage operations in the region.
The company said the initiative aims to improve shelf life for highly perishable fruits such as cherries, provide growers access to larger markets, and help farmers secure better prices for their produce. In the next phase, AAFL also plans to expand into other stone fruits, including peaches and plums.
Speaking at the “Fruit Horizon 2026: Globalising India’s Fruit Value Chain” event organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Uttar Pradesh State Transformation Commission, and the Horticulture Department on May 7, Manish Agarwal highlighted the company’s expansion strategy.
“We will begin cherry procurement from the coming season and gradually expand into other stone fruits such as peaches and plums. This initiative builds on our long experience in apple procurement and our continued efforts to provide farmers with better market access,” he said.
To support the new venture, AAFL has upgraded its controlled atmosphere storage facilities across six locations in Himachal Pradesh for cherry storage and distribution. The company believes these modern storage systems will reduce post-harvest losses and strengthen the fruit value chain in the state.
AAFL has been among the pioneering organised players in apple procurement, storage, and marketing in Himachal Pradesh. Operating under its Farm-Pik brand since 2006, the company has procured more than 300,000 metric tonnes of apples from over 17,000 farmers over the past two decades. During this period, it has directly paid nearly ₹1,500 crore to farmers.
The company has developed a total storage capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes in Himachal Pradesh, enabling fruits to be preserved for longer durations while improving farmers’ access to national markets.
AAFL follows a standardised grading and sorting system that determines pricing transparently based on fruit quality. According to the company, this system reduces farmers’ dependence on traditional mandis and ensures better value realisation for their produce.

The company is also expanding its digital mandi initiative, which allows farmers to sell produce remotely without physically visiting procurement centres. The platform is now being extended to additional regions as part of the company’s digital outreach strategy.
Currently, AAFL procures nearly four percent of Himachal Pradesh’s total apple production and continues to increase its operational capacity to connect with more growers across the region.
In collaboration with the Adani Foundation, the company is also involved in healthcare, education, and community development initiatives across horticulture-growing regions.
