AB de Villiers Joins Kabuni as Super Coach to Revolutionise AI-Powered Cricket Training

Young Cricketers to Get Access to World-Class AI-Based Coaching Through Kabuni Platform

Mumbai: Strengthening its ambitious vision to transform global cricket training, AI-powered sports technology platform Kabuni has announced former South African captain and cricket legend AB de Villiers as its newest Super Coach.

The addition of de Villiers marks another major milestone for Kabuni, which aims to make world-class cricket coaching accessible to players at every level. He joins an elite coaching panel that already includes Sourav Ganguly and Shane Watson.

The collaboration combines Kabuni’s advanced AI-driven technology with AB de Villiers’ vast cricketing expertise, offering aspiring players a unique blend of data-backed insights and real-game experience. As part of the initiative, young cricketers aged 12 to 16 across India will get an opportunity to compete for a place in AB de Villiers’ team through a new national tournament set to launch in June, powered by Kabuni’s technology.

Kabuni’s platform is designed to modernise traditional cricket training by tracking player movement and ball trajectories in real time, converting that data into simple and actionable feedback. Through its “1% Improvement” model, the system focuses on correcting small mistakes instantly, helping players achieve consistent long-term improvement in performance.

By integrating voice guidance, video analysis and visual cues, the platform ensures that feedback remains easy to understand and immediately applicable — particularly for young and developing players.

Speaking about the association, AB de Villiers said cricket has always been about creativity and pushing boundaries.

“Cricket has always been a way for me to express myself — whether it was finding new solutions or exploring new limits. What Kabuni is building is exciting because it gives young players a platform to understand their game better, trust their instincts and grow in their own way. I’m excited to help the next generation think differently, play freely and discover their full potential,” he said.

Kabuni founder and CEO Nimesh Patel described de Villiers as one of the most innovative minds in world cricket.

“AB de Villiers’ ability to view the game differently and perform under pressure perfectly aligns with Kabuni’s vision. We are building a platform that develops players not just technically, but also creatively and mentally. His association strengthens our mission to redefine how the next generation learns and experiences cricket,” Patel said.

Kabuni uses biomechanics, motion tracking and performance analytics to deliver personalised real-time coaching. Its “1% Better” philosophy is aimed at helping players make small, consistent improvements that can lead to major performance gains over time.

With AB de Villiers joining the platform, Kabuni has further reinforced its goal of building a global technology-driven cricket coaching ecosystem that bridges the gap between grassroots talent and elite-level performance.
