Lucknow: Dramatic performances depicting the battles between Lakshman and Meghnad, and Lord Ram and Ravana, enthralled audiences at the Ramleela organised by the Shri Ramleela Samiti Mahanagar on Monday. The emotionally charged episodes of Hanuman bringing the Sanjeevani herb and the death of Kumbhakarna drew an enthusiastic response from devotees.
The evening featured several key episodes from the Ramayana, beginning with the establishment of Rameshwaram in the sea and progressing through the Angad-Ravana dialogue, the Sanjeevani episode and the final battle between Lord Ram and Ravana. The performances kept the audience engaged throughout the night.

When Vibhishan failed to persuade Ravana to abandon his wrongful path, he sought refuge with Lord Ram. The Angad-Ravana dialogue showcased Angad’s courage as he challenged Ravana’s court. The scene in which Lakshman was struck by Meghnad’s powerful weapon, followed by Hanuman’s journey to bring the Sanjeevani herb, moved the audience.
The fierce battle between Lakshman and Meghnad culminated in Meghnad’s death, prompting the gathering to erupt in chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Lakshman Lal Ki Jai”.
Another major highlight was Kumbhakarna’s awakening and his attempt to counsel Ravana before entering the battlefield to defend his kingdom. The episode concluded with Kumbhakarna attaining liberation at the hands of Lord Ram, leaving a lasting emotional impression on the audience.
