A perfect cup of tea for me is a feeling of reset and recharge: Parakh Madan

Mumbai: Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 actor Parakh Madan does not treat tea as a casual habit. For her, it is something closer to a daily practice, deliberate, unhurried, and entirely her own.

Speaking on the occasion of International Tea Day, which is observed on May 21, she said, “A perfect cup of tea for me is a feeling of reset and recharge. Twice a day, I make sure to give myself 10-15 minutes to breathe, sip my tea, and re-center my thoughts.”

The relationship with tea goes back further than most people might expect. She said, “Tea was the first thing that I learned how to make from my mom. She taught me how exactly she liked to make her tea and how my dad liked his tea as well. So, during my school days, every evening before I went out to play, I would prepare their tea and then head out. It was a daily ritual back in those days and has now become a core memory for me.

When asked which tea best captures who she is, she mentioned, “If I had to describe my personality through a cup of tea, I would definitely be a classic Kashmiri kahwa. Calm, soothing, warm, and inviting with a touch of elegance. These characteristics are intrinsic parts of my DNA, and so I think Kahwa would represent my personality perfectly.

On whether tea has carried her through difficult times, she agrees. She said, “I am a person who loves routine, and following routine brings me peace and joy.” So, my tea time routine, done at the right time, definitely contributes to having a perfect, stress-free day.”

Parakh also has a clear sense of why tea holds such significance for so many people beyond just herself. She said, “I think it represents a pause, a moment to slow down and reconnect with ourselves or the people around us.” Hence, it makes tea more than just a beverage for many people.”

“Brewing a cup of tea for someone is one of the purest, simplest acts of hospitality and comfort. Whether it’s a friend celebrating a joy or someone navigating a difficult day, a warm cup is an instant, tactile reassurance that they are supported and cared for,” she added.

But when it comes to who she would most want to share that cup with, her answer is perhaps the most revealing of all. She said, “To be honest, the person I would most want to share that cup of tea with is myself. As much as I love and value the people in my life, there is an incredible, rare beauty in pure, uninterrupted solitude.”

“A cup of tea, a book, and some soft instrumental music are the definition of the perfect tea time ritual for me.” She added, and in that answer, Parakh Madan says everything about who she is, someone who gives warmly to others but who also knows exactly how to give to herself,” Parakh ended.
