Mau: Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma inaugurated the ‘Ped Lagao, Ped Bachao Vyaparoksha Jan Abhiyan-2024’ by planting a ‘Peepal’ sapling near Khurhat Pump Canal in Mau district.
On the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saplings were planted in the name of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ as his sacred thought and cultural heritage.

Our sages and saints revealed the secret of life only by going in the lap of nature. Conservation of nature is very important for a happy life.
For clean air, pure water, life-friendly climate, it is very important to conserve and promote trees along with plantation. Planting and conservation of plants not only serves nature and earth but also leads to economic prosperity. The Minister distributed saplings to NCC students and dignitaries present.
A.K. Sharma appealed to the people of Mau to participate in the tree plantation campaign in large numbers and to plant more saplings than the target set for Mau. The target of planting 36.50 crore saplings in the entire state under the guidance of the Chief Minister, out of which 32 lakh saplings will be planted in Mau district.
Addressing the program organized on this occasion, A.K. Sharma said that in our culture, forests, trees and plants are not only the center of our religious traditions and spiritual consciousness, but also make us aware of supernatural power. Our sages and saints revealed the secrets of life by going to the lap of nature. He said that all of us should try to make the environment around us beautiful and green, the coming generations should get such an environment that they remain healthy.
He said that conservation of nature is very important for a happy life, nature has got the status of second mother in our religious scriptures. Our culture has told that gods reside in trees, we worship trees. It is said that Narayan resides in Peepal tree. He said that for clean air, pure water, life-friendly climate, along with plantation, trees will have to be protected and promoted. Plants will also have to be taken care of like family members. He asked the forest department officials to provide free saplings to the people. While making people aware, he said that while planting and conservation of saplings serves nature and earth, it also leads to economic prosperity.
Thousands of people including regional public representatives, Mau District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, DFO, other officers of the district administration, dignitaries, youth, women, students participated in the program and took part in the plantation program with great enthusiasm.
