Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described India-Japan friendship as a partnership rooted in trust, development and the cultural affinity between two ancient civilisations, saying the proposed Abe Memorial Corridor in Varanasi would further strengthen these ties.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Yogi highlighted the contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in giving a new momentum to relations between the two countries. He said the Abe Memorial Corridor, dedicated to the memory of the late Japanese leader and the enduring India-Japan friendship, would be inaugurated in Varanasi.

Yogi is scheduled to participate in the inauguration programme at the Rudraksha International Cooperation and Convention Centre in Kashi. He said the initiative would serve as a lasting symbol of the close relationship between India and Japan.
Highlighting the economic dimension of the partnership, the Chief Minister said cultural affinity between the two nations was increasingly translating into economic cooperation. Uttar Pradesh, he noted, has signed Memorandums of Understanding worth around Rs 90,000 crore with Japanese companies.

Yogi said the relationship between India and Japan was based on a legacy of mutual trust and a shared commitment to development. He also highlighted the growing cultural connection between Kashi and Kyoto.
From Kashi to Kyoto and from cultural ties to economic cooperation, he said, the India-Japan partnership was opening new avenues for shared prosperity.
