Yuvraj Singh Joins Delhi Capitals as Assistant and Batting Coach Ahead of IPL 2027

Mumbai: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is set to begin a new chapter in his cricketing career, joining Delhi Capitals as assistant coach and batting coach ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The appointment will mark his first formal coaching role with an IPL franchise.

Yuvraj will work alongside former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who is set to lead Delhi Capitals’ coaching setup. The two share a long association, dating back to Yuvraj’s early years in international cricket.

Speaking on the franchise’s official YouTube channel, Yuvraj said he had been preparing for a team coaching role for the past three to four years. He has previously mentored several Indian cricketers, including Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, helping them develop their skills and approach to the game.

Yuvraj credited Ganguly with teaching him the importance of team unity, confidence and the belief that India could compete against the world’s strongest sides. He described his former captain as an elder-brother figure whose guidance played an important role in his development.

As he takes on his new responsibilities, Yuvraj aims to strengthen Delhi Capitals’ batting unit, build confidence among players and help the team handle pressure in crucial situations.

The franchise’s immediate target will be to qualify for the playoffs before mounting a serious challenge for the IPL title. Delhi Capitals have yet to win the championship, and Yuvraj believes the team has the potential to compete for the trophy.

Yuvraj previously represented Delhi during the 2015 IPL season. His transition from player and mentor to franchise coach brings extensive international experience to the setup, although the team’s success will ultimately depend on how effectively that experience translates into performances on the field in IPL 2027.
