Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh plans to establish outlets for cow-based products across all 75 districts, aiming to expand rural employment opportunities and create new markets for products derived from cattle beyond conventional dairy items such as milk, curd and ghee.
The initiative, aligned with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, seeks to support cattle rearers, farmers, self-help groups and rural entrepreneurs by providing a dedicated platform to market their products. The proposed outlets will offer a diverse range of items, including dairy products, organic manure, cow dung lamps, flowerpots, incense sticks, dhoop, havan materials and Panchgavya-based daily-use products.

The plan aims to promote the commercial utilisation of cow dung, cow urine and other available resources, encouraging value addition beyond milk production. Environment-friendly products made from cow dung and other cow-based raw materials are also expected to receive a boost.
Uttar Pradesh Cow Service Commission Chairman Shyam Bihari Gupta said the outlets would stock products across multiple categories, including religious-use materials, household utility items, decorative products and handicrafts. The range is also expected to include cow dung cakes, havan cups and other items used in traditional rituals.

The initiative could open up opportunities across the production and supply chain. Cattle rearers and farmers may supply raw materials, while local entrepreneurs and self-help groups could participate in manufacturing, processing, packaging and marketing.
By connecting locally produced goods with a wider market, the proposed network is expected to encourage small rural enterprises and strengthen the rural economy. The initiative also seeks to promote sustainable, locally manufactured alternatives and diversify income opportunities for communities engaged in cattle rearing and allied activities.
The rollout and operational details of the proposed outlets are yet to be specified.
