Bareilly: Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash Goyal and Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna chaired a high-level review meeting at the Circuit House to assess security and administrative preparations for the Kanwar Yatra 2026 across the Bareilly and Moradabad divisions.
Senior civil and police officials from all districts presented detailed preparedness plans covering traffic management, law and order, crowd control, emergency response, healthcare, sanitation and disaster management. Officials said special emphasis was being placed on ensuring an accident-free pilgrimage through route diversions, barricading, CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, dedicated control rooms and extensive deployment of police personnel.
Bareilly district, which expects around 1.5 million Kanwariyas, has established 30 medical camps, deployed 43 ambulances and arranged flower showers from helicopters for devotees. Similar arrangements, including mobile toilets, changing rooms, divers, lifeboats, drinking water facilities, health camps and rescue teams, have been made in Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnor, Sambhal and Amroha.
Officials also reviewed preparations in view of other major religious events, including Urs-e-Razvi in Bareilly, Urs at Hashmat Ali Dargah in Pilibhit and Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, which coincide with the Shravan period. Authorities outlined plans to monitor social media round the clock, counter misinformation promptly and strengthen coordination between districts.
The DGP directed officials to ensure a completely incident-free Kanwar Yatra by strengthening preventive measures, training personnel posted at control rooms and analysing past incidents to avoid repeat lapses. The Chief Secretary stressed uninterrupted power supply, cleanliness, well-maintained toilets and quality public services, saying every pilgrim should leave Uttar Pradesh with a positive experience.
The meeting was attended by Bareilly Divisional Commissioner Bhupendra S. Chaudhary, ADG Bareilly Zone Ramit Sharma, DIG Bareilly Ajay Kumar Sahni, DIG Moradabad Muniraj G., district magistrates, police chiefs and senior administrative officials from both divisions.
