Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted availability of fertilisers for farmers during the ongoing Kharif season, with Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi stating that farmers remain the Yogi government’s top priority. He said the state is working closely with the Government of India to ensure timely supplies of fertilisers and other agricultural inputs, enabling cultivators to receive support from “seed to market.”
Shahi urged farmers to complete their Farmer Registry based on their agricultural land records to facilitate hassle-free access to fertilisers as per crop recommendations. He also appealed to farmers not to indulge in advance stocking, assuring them that there is no shortage of fertilisers anywhere in the state.
According to the Agriculture Department, Uttar Pradesh has maintained robust fertiliser stocks between April 1 and July 27, 2026. During this period, urea availability stood at 31.55 lakh metric tonnes, while distribution increased to 22.18 lakh metric tonnes, compared to 20.47 lakh metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year. Availability of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) reached 7.11 lakh metric tonnes, with distribution rising to 4.37 lakh metric tonnes from 3.96 lakh metric tonnes in 2025.
Similarly, NPK fertiliser availability stood at 6.33 lakh metric tonnes, with distribution increasing from 1.43 lakh metric tonnes in 2025 to 1.90 lakh metric tonnes this year. Single Super Phosphate (SSP) availability reached 4.72 lakh metric tonnes, while Muriate of Potash (MOP) stocks stood at 1.35 lakh metric tonnes.
As of July 28, 2026, the state had 14.77 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 4.81 lakh metric tonnes of DAP, 4.90 lakh metric tonnes of NPK, 3.46 lakh metric tonnes of SSP, and 1.11 lakh metric tonnes of MOP available for distribution. Of the total stocks, cooperative societies held 5.43 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 2.39 lakh metric tonnes of DAP, and 1.42 lakh metric tonnes of NPK, while private retailers accounted for 9.34 lakh metric tonnes of urea, 2.43 lakh metric tonnes of DAP, and 3.49 lakh metric tonnes of NPK.
The department said farmers are currently purchasing and consuming an average of 32,780 metric tonnes of urea, 6,715 metric tonnes of DAP, and 1,967 metric tonnes of NPK every day.
Adequate stocks have been positioned across all 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh through cooperative and private distribution networks. Among the major divisions, Lucknow has 1,38,186 metric tonnes of urea, 39,076 metric tonnes of DAP, and 57,889 metric tonnes of NPK, while Kanpur has 1,43,076 metric tonnes of urea, 46,433 metric tonnes of DAP, and 63,287 metric tonnes of NPK. Other divisions, including Bareilly, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Agra, Meerut and Ayodhya, also have substantial stocks to meet seasonal demand.
