CMO Reviews Progress of Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Campaign in Bareilly

Bareilly: As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public health measures, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Bareilly conducted a field inspection to review the progress of the Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign and the Dastak Campaign in the district.

The inspection was carried out in Bhimpur village, identified as a highly sensitive area under the Alampur Jafrabad Block Development Region, and also included a visit to the Community Health Centre Aonla.

Focus on Sanitation and Vector Control

During the visit, the CMO reviewed sanitation arrangements in the village. The cleaning of drains and trimming of overgrown vegetation were found to be generally satisfactory. However, instances of unhygienic conditions were observed at a few locations, prompting immediate instructions to the Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat) and the village head to ensure prompt cleaning and maintenance.

To strengthen the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases, officials were directed to prepare a comprehensive action plan and conduct regular anti-larval spraying and fogging operations on a weekly basis. Instructions in this regard were issued to the ADO Panchayat, Gram Pradhan, and Village Development Officer.

Public Awareness Drive Intensified

The Chief Medical Officer also interacted with villagers and emphasized the importance of preventive measures against communicable diseases. Residents were advised to wear full-sleeved clothing, use mosquito nets while sleeping, prevent water stagnation around their homes, and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

The CMO further encouraged people to seek immediate medical examination in case of fever and to complete the full course of medicines prescribed by healthcare professionals to prevent complications and ensure effective treatment.

Health and Administrative Officials Present

Several health and administrative officials accompanied the CMO during the inspection, including the District Malaria Officer, Superintendent of the Community Health Centre, Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat), Assistant Malaria Officer, Senior Malaria Inspector, village representatives, Community Health Officers (CHOs), Block Community Process Managers (BCPMs), ASHA workers, and other departmental personnel.

Officials stated that regular monitoring and community participation remain key components of the Special Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Campaigns, which aim to reduce the incidence of vector-borne and seasonal diseases through preventive action, awareness, and timely healthcare interventions.
