In Uttar Pradesh, power supply makes new records each day

Lucknow: Due to the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh, new records of power demand and supply are being made continuously. On Tuesday night, the demand for electricity reached the highest 29,820 MW in the history of the state, while the consumption also reached about 643 million units. On May 31, the demand for electricity reached 29,727 MW, which was fulfilled by the Power Corporation and a new record was set. On July 24, 2023, the maximum demand reached 28,284 MW, which was a record.

However, this record was broken on May 22, 2024, when the demand for electricity reached 28,336 MW. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to keep the power supply smooth in view of the scorching heat. At the same time, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Corporation, has instructed the officials to remain alert in view of the continuous heat and increasing demand for electricity. All personnel should discharge their duties with full dedication and hard work in this challenging time.

Dr. Goyal said that the Power Corporation has made adequate arrangements for the availability of electricity as per the forecast and additional arrangements are also being made on time when the demand increases. There is no rostering anywhere due to the capacity of the system. There are reports of power supply being disrupted due to local faults. In this context also, strict instructions have been given that wherever there is a local fault, it should be rectified in the shortest possible time and the supply should be restored. He has given instructions to run a campaign against power theft to improve the power system.

UP tops among states supplying maximum electricity
By successfully meeting the increased demand for electricity in the scorching heat, Uttar Pradesh has created a record of supplying the highest amount of electricity in the entire country. Recently, Uttar Pradesh had created a record in the country by meeting the highest demand of 29,500 MW of electricity. At the same time, according to the Grid India Power Supply Report, on June 10, 2024, once again Uttar Pradesh has surpassed states like Maharashtra-Gujarat and secured the first position by supplying the highest amount of 28,889 MW of electricity in the country.

According to the report released on June 10, Uttar Pradesh has met the maximum demand of 28,889 MW, Gujarat 24,231 MW, Maharashtra 24,254 MW, Rajasthan 16,781 MW and Tamil Nadu 16,257 MW. This year also, the electricity department of Uttar Pradesh has set a record of supplying the highest amount of electricity in the entire country during peak hours.
