Lucknow: The Sarojininagar Police Commissionerate’s Saerpur Police team has arrested a wanted accused in connection with a case involving alleged assault, criminal intimidation and an attempt to cause grievous injuries.
According to police officials, a complaint was lodged at Saerpur Police Station on June 25 by Suchit Yadav, a resident of Ahladpur village in the Kamalabad Barhauli area of Lucknow. The complainant alleged that the accused abused, assaulted and threatened members of his family with dire consequences.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the course of the investigation, police collected evidence and examined the medical report of injured Ramswaroop Yadav, who had sustained serious injuries. In view of the nature of the injuries and supporting evidence, additional charges relating to a life-threatening attack were incorporated into the case.
Acting on the directions of senior officers, a police team was formed to trace and arrest the accused. The team conducted continuous searches and intelligence-based operations at various locations.
On June 28, acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid in Ahladpur village and arrested the wanted accused, identified as Lalla (42), son of Ramnath, a resident of Ahladpur village under Saerpur Police Station limits. Police said the accused is engaged in farming.
The accused was informed of the grounds of arrest and taken into custody in accordance with legal procedures and guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court and the National Human Rights Commission. Following the completion of legal formalities, he was produced before the competent court.
Police officials said efforts are underway to verify the accused’s criminal background from other police stations and districts.
Recovery
During the operation, police recovered:
- Two wooden sticks allegedly used in the assault.
Case Details
The arrest was made in connection with Case Crime No. 70/2026, registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to assault, criminal intimidation and causing grievous injuries.
