Gonda: District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan conducted an on-site inspection of flood-prone areas and embankments in Tarabganj tehsil to assess flood preparedness and review ongoing safety measures ahead of the monsoon season.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate visited the Sakarora–Bhikharipur embankment as well as the flood-vulnerable villages of Sanauli Mohammadpur, Godiyan Purwa, and Aeli Parsauli. She examined the condition of flood protection infrastructure and directed concerned departments to complete all preventive measures within the stipulated timeframe.
Focus on Embankment Safety and Erosion Control
The District Magistrate reviewed the condition of embankments, identified vulnerable locations, and assessed the progress of flood protection and anti-erosion works. She instructed officials to prioritize all pending works before the onset of heavy rains to minimize the risk of loss of life and property during any potential flood situation.
She also directed officials to carry out regular monitoring of embankments, identify weak points, and ensure immediate repair and strengthening work wherever required.
Instructions for Comprehensive Flood Preparedness
During the visit, Priyanka Niranjan reviewed arrangements related to flood control posts, availability of relief and rescue materials, deployment of boats, disaster management equipment, and emergency response plans.
She emphasized the need for close coordination among all departments associated with flood management and disaster response, directing them to remain fully prepared to tackle any emergency situation.
The District Magistrate also instructed officials to launch awareness initiatives in flood-prone villages so that residents are informed about potential risks and precautionary measures. She stressed the importance of providing timely information to local communities and ensuring effective communication systems.

Relief and Essential Services to Be Ensured
Officials were directed to make advance arrangements for relief camps, safe drinking water, food supplies, healthcare services, and livestock protection measures in vulnerable areas. The District Magistrate said all necessary facilities should be in place well before any emergency arises.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to public welfare, she stated that the safety and security of citizens remain the highest priority and that any negligence in flood prevention, preparedness, or relief operations would not be tolerated.
“All concerned departments must discharge their responsibilities with utmost seriousness and ensure that all preparedness measures are completed in a time-bound manner,” she said.
The inspection was attended by Additional District Magistrate Alok Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Tarabganj) Pradeep Kumar, Flood Division Executive Engineer Jai Singh, District Disaster Expert Rajesh Srivastava, and other concerned officials.
The visit forms part of the district administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen flood management systems and ensure prompt response capabilities ahead of the monsoon season.
