Lucknow: In a major initiative aimed at strengthening women’s safety, awareness, and empowerment, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate organized ‘Bahu-Beti Sammelans’ across all police station jurisdictions under Mission Shakti Phase 5.0. The large-scale outreach programme was conducted in line with the recommendations of Police Manthan-2025 and the directives of the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh.
The campaign was carried out under the direction of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar and supervised by Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bablu Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) Aparna Kumar, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Crime and Security) Mamta Rani Choudhary. Senior police officers, station house officers, women beat officers, and personnel associated with Mission Shakti centres actively participated in the programme.
The conferences were held in police station areas including Gomti Nagar Extension, Ashiana, Aliganj, Vikas Nagar, Vibhuti Khand, Hazratganj, Krishna Nagar, PGI, Sushant Golf City, Chinhat, Indira Nagar, Mahanagar, Gudamba, Jankipuram, Madiaon, Thakurganj, Chowk, Kaiserbagh, Sarojini Nagar, Banthra, Mohanlalganj, Nigoha, Malihabad, and Bakshi Ka Talab, among others.
Thousands of women, homemakers, students, adolescent girls, members of self-help groups, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, public representatives, and local residents participated in the events.
The primary objective of the ‘Bahu-Beti Sammelan’ initiative is to reduce incidents related to suicide among women, dowry harassment, dowry deaths, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse and social insecurity. The programme also seeks to create awareness among young women and students about the social and legal consequences of impulsive decisions while providing them with a safe and supportive environment to discuss their concerns.
During the conferences, participants were informed about important emergency and support services, including the Women Power Line 1090, Women Helpline 181, Child Helpline 1098, Emergency Response Support System 112, Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, Chief Minister Helpline 1076, and Ambulance Service 108. Women were encouraged to report crimes and emergencies promptly and seek assistance whenever required.

Women police personnel from Mission Shakti Centres conducted interactive awareness sessions on cybercrime, online fraud, digital arrest scams, social media safety, domestic violence, dowry harassment, women’s rights, child marriage, human trafficking, gender-based crimes, and mental health concerns, including the growing issue of suicide among women and adolescents.
Special emphasis was placed on educating young women and students about the importance of education, self-reliance, career planning, and making informed life choices. Participants were also provided information on health, hygiene, nutrition, legal aid, family dispute resolution, cyber safety, financial independence, and various government welfare schemes designed for women.
Awareness materials related to Mission Shakti were distributed during the events, and attendees were informed about the contact numbers of Mission Shakti Centres and other local support mechanisms available to women in distress.
At the conclusion of the programme, participants expressed appreciation for the valuable information shared during the sessions and praised the Lucknow Police Commissionerate’s efforts to promote women’s safety and empowerment through community outreach and public awareness initiatives.
Officials stated that Mission Shakti Phase 5.0 aims to ensure that every woman and girl is aware of her rights, available safety measures, legal protections, and support services. The Lucknow Police Commissionerate reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safer, more secure, and empowering environment for women across the city.
