Akhilesh Yadav Calls 2027 Uttar Pradesh Polls a ‘Battle to Save Democracy’, Launches Fresh Attack on BJP

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the ruling party poses a threat to democratic institutions and calling upon party workers to unite for what he described as a fight to protect democracy in the state.

Addressing party leaders and workers from various districts at the Samajwadi Party state headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav said the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections would be crucial for the future of democracy.

“The responsibility of safeguarding democracy rests with the Samajwadi Party. The 2027 Assembly election is not just a political contest; it is an election to save democracy,” Yadav said.

He urged party workers to remain vigilant at the booth level, pay close attention to voter lists, and maintain discipline and civility in their interactions with the public.

BJP Set to Lose Power in 2027, Claims Akhilesh

The Samajwadi Party chief asserted that the people of Uttar Pradesh are seeking change and claimed that the BJP’s exit from power in the 2027 Assembly elections was inevitable.

According to Yadav, party workers should actively engage with voters and highlight what he termed the failures of the BJP government. He alleged that inflation, unemployment, and corruption have increased significantly under the current administration.

“The public is troubled by corruption. Illegal land encroachments are taking place, and land mafias are receiving protection from those in power,” he alleged.

Focus on PDA Strategy

Yadav reiterated the importance of the party’s PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) social coalition strategy and accused the BJP of targeting marginalized communities.

He alleged that the ruling party had weakened reservation policies, filed false cases against members of PDA communities, and subjected them to harassment.

“PDA is a powerful social force and stands firmly with the Samajwadi Party. This is why the BJP is nervous and constantly conspiring against it,” Yadav claimed.

He said the Samajwadi Party’s agenda is based on social justice, inclusiveness, compassion, and mutual respect.

Farmers and Youth ‘Betrayed’

The former Chief Minister also accused the BJP government of failing farmers and young people.

He claimed that farmers continue to face shortages of fertilizers and seeds, rising cultivation costs due to increasing diesel prices, and inadequate electricity supply. He further alleged that many farmers are struggling financially.

On employment, Yadav said educated youth across rural areas remain unemployed and accused the government of failing to create sufficient job opportunities.

He also alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and questioned the government’s handling of competitive recruitment processes.

Criticism of Law and Order Situation

Akhilesh Yadav further criticized the state’s law and order situation, alleging that incidents of murder, robbery, and crimes against women have increased.

He claimed that women do not feel adequately secure and accused the government of failing to deliver on its promises of public welfare and development.

According to Yadav, large-scale corruption has affected infrastructure and construction projects. He contrasted the BJP government’s record with that of previous Samajwadi Party administrations, highlighting projects such as expressways, IT City developments, stadiums, and road infrastructure initiatives.

“The Samajwadi Party showed the path of development for Uttar Pradesh. Despite being in power for two terms, the BJP has failed to move forward on that path,” he said.

Senior Leaders Attend Meeting

Several senior Samajwadi Party leaders were present at the gathering, including National General Secretary and former Cabinet Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, former Union Minister Salim Iqbal Sherwani, MP Dharmendra Yadav, State President Shyam Lal Pal, MP Aditya Yadav, along with several legislators, former legislators, office-bearers, and party workers.

The meeting focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots organization and preparing workers for the political challenges leading up to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
