Lucknow: BJP Lucknow Metropolitan President Anand Dwivedi inaugurated the International Yoga Day Week celebrations in the city as part of the nationwide observance leading up to the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21.
The week-long programme, being observed from June 15 to June 21, commenced at Gulab Vatika in Chander Nagar under the Cantonment Assembly constituency. Dwivedi participated in a yoga session alongside local residents and encouraged people to adopt yoga as a regular part of their daily lives.
Addressing participants, Dwivedi described yoga as an invaluable heritage of Indian culture that helps establish harmony between the body, mind, and soul.
“Yoga is a priceless gift of India’s ancient tradition. It promotes physical well-being, mental peace, and spiritual balance,” he said.
Highlighting the global recognition that yoga has received in recent years, Dwivedi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the practice to the international stage.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has gained a new global identity. Today, countries across the world are embracing yoga as a foundation for a healthy and balanced lifestyle,” he said.

Dwivedi urged citizens not to view yoga merely as an annual event but as a lifelong habit that contributes to overall well-being.
“Regular yoga practice not only keeps individuals healthy and disease-free but also fosters positivity, discipline, and harmony in society,” he added.
The inaugural event witnessed participation from local BJP leaders, public representatives, and residents. Among those present were Mandal President Rajan Verma, Councillor Piyush Diwan, Bablu Mishra, Adarsh Mishra, and several senior citizens.
The International Yoga Day Week will feature a series of yoga sessions and awareness activities across Lucknow ahead of the global observance of International Yoga Day on June 21, aimed at promoting wellness and encouraging greater public participation in yoga practices.
