Lucknow: The martyrdom anniversary of the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj, was observed with deep reverence and devotion at Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha, Alambagh. A large number of devotees gathered to pay homage to the revered Guru and participate in the spiritual proceedings.
The religious congregation was enriched by the soulful Gurbani Kirtan performed by renowned Raagi Jatha member Bhai Mehtab Singh, who had arrived from Darbar Sahib. His devotional renditions immersed the congregation in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Bhai Jaskaran Singh also delivered an inspiring discourse highlighting the life, sacrifice, and teachings of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, acquainting devotees with the historical significance of his martyrdom.
A special highlight of the event was the release of the book “Yug Purush Yogi: Ek Vishwas,” authored by Mohammad Zahid Akhtar. The book was formally unveiled by former Chief Adviser to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Avanish Awasthi, in the presence of the congregation.
Promoting the message of environmental responsibility, Awasthi also planted a sapling in memory of his mother and encouraged people to contribute towards environmental conservation through tree plantation and sustainable practices.
Several distinguished guests and community leaders attended the programme, including Deputy Mayor Charanjit Gandhi, Sardar Nirmal Singh, Sardar Ratpal Singh Goldy, Sardar Trilok Singh, Sardar Rajendra Singh Raju, Sardar Harjit Singh Sarla, Sardar Parmjit Singh, Sardar Gurdeep Singh, Sardar Iqbal Singh, Sardar Parvinder Singh Chawla, Sardar Rajendra Singh Bagga, Sardar Jasbir Singh Virk, Raju Gandhi, and Sardar Harvinder Singh, among many others.
The event concluded with the distribution of Guru Ka Langar, reinforcing the Sikh tradition of equality, community service, and selfless devotion.
The observance served as a reminder of Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s enduring message of faith, sacrifice, humility, and commitment to humanity, values that continue to inspire generations across the world.
