Lucknow: A burglary in the rural outskirts of the Lucknow Commissionerate area has triggered concern over night patrolling and rural security arrangements. In a late-night incident in Bahru village under the Kakori police station limits, unidentified miscreants broke into a locked house and decamped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs.
According to police and local reports, the house belonging to Lavkush Maurya, a resident of Bahru village, was targeted after the premises were left unattended during the night. The burglars reportedly forced open locks of cupboards and storage boxes, taking away gold and silver jewellery along with a substantial amount of cash.
The incident came to light early in the morning when the family returned and found the main entrance broken, household items scattered, and valuables missing. Shocked by the discovery, the victims immediately informed the local police control room and Kakori police station.
Police teams, including local officers and forensic units, reached the spot shortly after receiving the information. A preliminary inspection of the crime scene was conducted, and evidence collection was initiated. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the law.
Investigators are now scanning CCTV footage from nearby routes, including village link roads, nearby shops, petrol pumps, and connecting highways, to trace the movement of suspects. Police suspect that the burglary may have been carried out by an organised group familiar with the area and its routine security patterns.
A senior police official stated that night patrolling in rural belts has been intensified following the incident. “All field units have been instructed to increase night surveillance, especially in village clusters and connecting roads. Teams are also monitoring suspicious movement of scrap dealers and unidentified individuals,” the official said.
Residents of Bahru village have expressed concern over the incident, saying it has created a sense of insecurity in the area. Local community members have urged authorities to strengthen night patrolling and improve surveillance in rural pockets adjoining Kakori and surrounding belts.
Police have assured that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved, and that recovery of stolen property remains a priority. Authorities have also appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity or unidentified vehicles moving during late hours to emergency helpline services.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
