Lucknow: In a swift breakthrough, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate successfully solved a robbery case within 24 hours of the incident and arrested one accused involved in the crime. Police have also recovered the robbed motorcycle and the bike used in the incident, while search operations are underway to nab two absconding accused.
According to police officials, the incident took place on May 17 when Ajit Singh, an employee at the LG Warehouse in Mohanlalganj, was returning home to Raebareli on his Splendor motorcycle after completing his duty. At around 3:20 am, near Dakshina Tower in Lalpur under the jurisdiction of Nigoha Police Station, three unidentified men riding a motorcycle intercepted him on the highway. The assailants allegedly assaulted him before fleeing with his motorcycle, mobile phone, and ₹500 cash.
Taking the matter seriously, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and immediately launched an investigation. Under the direction of senior police officials, three special teams were formed to crack the case and arrest the accused at the earliest.
During the investigation, police teams conducted an extensive review of more than 200 CCTV cameras from the crime scene up to Raebareli district. Technical surveillance and CCTV analysis helped investigators identify the Honda Livo motorcycle used in the robbery. Informer networks were also activated to track the suspects’ movements.
Based on a tip-off, police arrested Hariom Tiwari near Nahariya on the Nigoha-Nagram road on May 18. During the operation, officers recovered the victim’s stolen Splendor motorcycle along with the Honda Livo used in the crime.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he, along with associates Lavkush Yadav and Pankaj Tiwari, lived in a rented accommodation in Gudamba, Lucknow, where they worked as painters. The trio had allegedly planned to target commuters on isolated roads while travelling from Lucknow to Raebareli. After spotting the victim riding alone, they followed him for nearly 500 metres before carrying out the robbery.
Police further stated that the accused intended to use the stolen motorcycle in future robberies to avoid identification. While one accused was apprehended, the other two managed to escape from the spot. Continuous raids are being conducted to ensure their early arrest.
The prompt action by the Nigoha police team has been appreciated for ensuring quick recovery and preventing further criminal activities in the region.
