Two suspects detained as police search for key accused in Nigohan case
LUCKNOW: Lucknow Police have intensified their investigation into an alleged incident in which a young man was reportedly held captive and blood was extracted from his hand during an attempt to recover mobile phone instalments in Nigohan.
The case came to light after allegations that Nawal was subjected to the extreme act in connection with an outstanding mobile EMI payment. Following intervention by senior police officials, a case was registered on Monday evening and the complainant underwent a medical examination.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohammad Mushtaq, two suspects have been detained for questioning, while the main accused remains absconding. Police said the extraction of blood from Nawal’s hand has been confirmed.
The detained suspects allegedly told investigators that their absconding associate had spoken about selling the blood. However, they reportedly had no information about where or to whom it was sold. Police are investigating this aspect to establish the circumstances and possible purpose of the alleged act.
Three police teams have been deployed to trace the main accused and are conducting raids at his suspected hideouts.
As part of the investigation, police also summoned Shivam, the operator of Geeta Mobile Shop in Nigohan town, for questioning on Tuesday. Information is being collected from agents of private finance companies associated with mobile shops in the area to determine which company and recovery agents were linked to Nawal’s instalment payments.
Shivam reportedly told police that the shop’s role was limited to selling mobile phones. According to his statement, once a phone is financed, the company makes the payment to the shop, while instalment recovery is handled by the finance company’s agents.
Police have also established that contact was made with the alleged recovery agent by phone on Monday night, but the handset was switched off shortly afterwards. The accused had not been arrested by Tuesday evening.
The investigation is continuing, with police examining the alleged blood extraction, the financing arrangements and the role of those involved in the recovery process.
