Raebareli: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raebareli organised Fire Safety Week from May 4 to May 10, 2026, under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Amita Jain. The programme was conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The week-long initiative aimed to enhance awareness regarding fire safety, strengthen disaster management preparedness, and ensure the safety of patients, healthcare workers, students, and staff members within the institute.
Fire Safety Pledge Marks Beginning of Programme
The programme commenced on May 4 with a fire safety pledge administered by senior officials of the institute, including Dr. Neeraj Kumari, Dr. Archana Verma, Dr. Pragati Garg, Deputy Director (Administration) Colonel Akhilesh Singh, Financial Advisor Colonel U.N. Rai, and Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Neeraj Kumar Srivastava.
On May 5, a technical webinar focusing on fire safety measures in sensitive hospital areas such as ICUs, NICUs, PICUs, and operation theatres was organised.
Fire Safety Audits and Demonstrations Conducted
On May 6 and 7, internal fire safety audits were conducted across several critical areas of the hospital, including ICUs, OPDs, CSSD, blood bank, laboratories, HVAC plant, and LT panel rooms.
Technical sessions on electrical fire safety and hospital fire safety planning were also held during the week. Demonstrations on the proper use of fire extinguishers were organised in the residential campus for staff and residents.


Students Participate in Awareness Activities
On May 8, medical and nursing students participated in a fire safety quiz competition and poster-making competition. Fire safety drills and awareness programmes were also conducted in the medical college building and hostel premises.
On May 9, a fire mock drill and rescue operation were carried out in Ward 4C of the hospital building in collaboration with the District Fire Department. The exercise demonstrated emergency evacuation procedures and methods to control different types of fire incidents.
Enhanced Awareness and Preparedness
At the conclusion of the programme, the institute administration stated that Fire Safety Week significantly improved awareness regarding safety protocols and enhanced disaster response preparedness among healthcare workers, students, and staff members.
