Bareilly: In an effort to spread awareness about prevention and early detection of thalassemia, IMA Blood Bank Bareilly organised a public awareness rally on Saturday highlighting the seriousness of the hereditary blood disorder and the importance of preventive measures.

The awareness rally was formally flagged off by Pradeep Kumar Singh, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority Bareilly, along with Jaya Priyadarshini.

The rally commenced from the IMA Hall premises and passed through Chouki Chauraha before returning to the venue. Doctors associated with the Indian Medical Association, thalassemia-affected children from distant areas, and their parents actively participated in the campaign, making the event emotionally impactful and socially significant.

The organisers emphasised the importance of public awareness, timely screening, and preventive healthcare measures to reduce the incidence of thalassemia, a serious genetic blood disorder that requires lifelong treatment and regular blood transfusions.

Several Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) also contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the rally, including Bhuvnesh Kumar Yadav, Shoaib Ali Khan, Sadhna, Unnati Mishra, Prabha, and Pooja.

The initiative aimed to encourage greater public participation in awareness campaigns and underline the need for collective efforts in combating thalassemia through education, screening, and medical support.
