Raebareli: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raebareli organised a one-and-a-half-day workshop on “Introduction to Biostatistics and Applications of SPSS” on May 8 and 9 under the aegis of its Institute Research Cell. The workshop was conducted under the patronage of Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Amita Jain with the aim of equipping participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in biostatistics and data analysis using SPSS software.
The workshop focused on enhancing research capabilities among faculty members by introducing them to statistical tools and methods widely used in scientific research. SPSS Statistics, a leading software platform extensively used in social sciences, healthcare, and market research, was a key component of the training programme. Participants were introduced to techniques for managing, analysing, and visualising complex datasets effectively.
The inaugural session was addressed by Prof. Archana Verma, who outlined the objectives of the workshop and emphasised the growing importance of biostatistics in modern medical and scientific research. She highlighted the need for faculty members to develop strong analytical skills for accurate data interpretation and the generation of high-quality scientific outcomes.
The workshop featured distinguished experts from leading academic and medical institutions. Among the keynote resource persons were Prof. (Dr.) R. M. Pandey and Prof. (Dr.) Prabhakar Mishra from the Department of Biostatistics and Health Informatics at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

Prof. R. M. Pandey, who currently serves as Chairman of the Indian Council of Medical Research, shared valuable insights into statistical applications in healthcare research, while Prof. Prabhakar Mishra provided practical demonstrations and guidance on the use of SPSS for effective research data analysis.
A total of 30 faculty members from various departments of AIIMS Raebareli actively participated in the workshop. The sessions were highly interactive and covered key aspects of biostatistical concepts, data management, and practical applications of SPSS for analysing and interpreting research data.
The workshop concluded with participants appreciating the initiative for strengthening research methodology skills and promoting evidence-based scientific inquiry within the institution.
